| What are the things you are glad you spent the money on? Invitations? DJ? Centrepieces? Favours? Wine for the tables? Extra decor? It looks like we are going to have a really casual wedding this summer, but we're trying to spend the least money possible. I'm so not traditional, so I'm not worried about going against the norm. We'll be having the ceremony and reception at FH's parents' house on a lake. I'm thinking we'll put out the cash for tables and chairs, linens, some of the food (will recruit friends and family for salads, sides), flowers for me, a tent or two, and maybe speakers so we can hook up a laptop for music. We are spreading the word that it will be super casual and byob, gifts not expected, etc. Thanks for the input!

smurf993 (6/15/2008) the best money that i spent was on my pictures... i love looking at them and remembering all the fun. I completely agree. The pictures are the best money we spent. The pictures last forever, but everything else only lasts one day.

Our entire budget was $10,000 or so.
The most I spent was on beauty. I had my hair coloured, legs waxed, a facial, hair styled on the day, and professional make-up done on the day... All of that was more than the dress!!!!
We didn't have a professional photographer (to me it's a waste of money), but we did splurge on renting a projector and screen so that we could have a slide-show of me and my husband and the "story of us". It made our parents cry, so it was definitely money well spent!!

| Pictures were a splurge well-worth the cash. Still waiting for the video but his work is superb. I'm looking forward to being able to hear a few things (speeches etc) that I have sketchy recollection of. While not a 'splurge' (costs were about the same with several vendors) good quality food, drink and music were very important. We were not disappointed. Things less important to us that we saved cash on: cake (the decorator/florist had a baker friend make us something with lots of chocolate. It was dreamy) flowers (basically told her we wanted fall-themed with lots of berries. Again - fabulous results) invites (did these Staples kit style)

| photos!!! by far the most essential part to me! and i love my photos so i'm glad i worked so hard to find an amazing photographer.... secondly, the food! our food was incredible - guests are still talking about it! everything else was done as economically as we could as we each got to pick out most importent element: for me nothing was as important as a kick ass photographer and for ben he wanted kick ass food!
