it does depend on family and where you are from.  i have 11 aunts and unnlces on my mothers side.. two went to our wedding and gave gifts, two other sent money... the rest nothing.

i have 7 aunts and uncles on my dad's side... again three sent money... the others sent nothing.

Where i am from if you don't attend a wedding, then not sending a gift is the norm.  Sending one is above and beyond that is called for.

Peach did they come to your wedding? If we weren't going to the wedding Dh and I will give the same monetary amount that a couple gave to us if they came to our wedding. If the couple did not come to our wedding we would send a card with $150.00

We do the same :-)
