Sherri, that sleep training doesn't sound like much fun at all.

I'm at work (as usual), I'm hoping today is 'only' 14 hours....we'll see.  Been here since 7am and I swear I haven't accomplished a single thing, but I've got 4 pages of notes to prove I've been on the phone all day   Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!

Married at the Barcelo Marina Palace in Varadero on August 14/07 - best day ever!

What a day.  I'm in tears and trying not to cry anymore.  I took Uma to the off leash park while the boys worked on the roof.  Some ***ing jealous dog bit Uma on the head because it was jealous that its owner was petting Uma.  I was SOOO upset!!  I didn't care who they were, I just ran to the van and went directly to the emergency vet hospital, which thankfully is just down the road from us.

My poor baby!!! She's VERY lucky because the puncture wound missed her eye, just missed her eye.

People at the park ran to me, asking if I needed help or if I was OK to drive to the vet.  The people with the stupid ***ing dog left right after me, the woman looked like she wanted to crawl under a rock.  Not ONE apology. Not one.  ***ing hell.

I feel soooo guilty, like I let her down. I'm suppose to take care of her and I failed.   I know it's silly because I did what I could, but I still can't help but feeling bad.  I hope she doesn't hate me or blame me.

Awwww poor Uma!!! I really hope she's doing okay. That must have hurt and wtf yo?! What type of person doesn't apologizefor that?! B***TCH!

Will, you did the best you could do! Don't beat yourself up over it, like all mother we can only do so much to protect them. Hey, just before my cousins wedding a souple of weeks ago, Oli started to run and fell right on his face. He scraped every part of his beautiful face and was bleeding everywhere. Accidents happen and injuries happen. It's so hard to see them in pain, but you did the right thing and went asap to the vet!

I'm so sorry you had to go through such a horrible ordeal and really that owner should be totally paying your vet bill. Is she a regular there? Maybe you can get her license plate next time you're there and file a complaint and maybe take her to court for the fees?!

I've never seen them there before and I left before they did.  I was more concerned of getting Uma to a vet but in hindsight I should have had a look at their vehicle.

If I see them there again I will tell them 'your dog does NOT belong in this park'.  It was weird, because they seemed like nice people and the dog wasn't aggressive to Uma before the incident, but it did happen just after the owners were gushing over Uma so I'm thinking jealousy. They shouldn't bring their dog into that environment until it's properly trained.

The bill wasn't as bad as I thought as she needs an eye drop cream, and a pill, and the had to flush out the wound.  It was $400.  Not too bad for an emergency place I don't think.  I will keep the bill in my van though in case I see them again.  I think the woman was too embarrassed to apologize, but still.  Other people there were great, so concerned. One lady said 'what dog bites a puppy????'. What dog indeed.

Poor Oli!  Yeah I know these things happen and it did happen so fast it's just hard to not blame yourself.  She just licked me so I know she still loves me.  As the vet said, these sorts of things seem to traumatize the owners more than the pets.  I hope she doesn't get scared of dogs now.  I really trying to get her in puppy classes but so far no one is calling me back.

Poor Uma and of course she loves you!!! She'll always love you -- you're her mommy. That's actually a good price for an emergency place. My ex's parents cat paid close to $4000 for a night stay. Ouch

I hope she heals quickly.

No kidding eh?! What dog bites a puppy. That dog needs some serious dog training. I'll send Oli to bite that dog... Since he seems to be such a lil biter.
