So dh and I picked up our wedding video yesterday and we are pretty pleased with how it turned out. I have a few concerns though. The videographer has A LOT of footage of the dancing part of the reception. Like, a lot of footage. I'm afraid people might find it boring to watch. Dh says its fine that you can just fast forward whatever you don't want to watch but I'm not sure. What do you ladies think? Should I have the videographer edit some of it out?

Also, I'm changing 2 songs on the video. The first one is the part that was shot at Dh house in the morning before the wedding. So it's basically footage of him and his boys. He doesn't like the song and neither do I. Any suggestions for a song?

I also want to change the song he used for the footage of the bridal party dancing at the park where we took photos. Any suggestions for that?

Thanks ladies!

Hey Portia,

Not sure how the dancing montages were covered but what our videographer did to keep it fun was to change up the music every 2 minutes or so, so the first song is Sexyback (huge the year we got married) then Hips don't Lie (with footage of guests with the sombraros and maracas from the dj) then the guys dancing to Rasputin (always a favourite), a ballad (that Eros song "I belong to you"), and a traditional Italian tarantella (you will like know it, the one that goes "Catari --- a-uuma uma") . because each song is fairly short, it's not horribly boring because he shifts between wide shots, close ups, then people at the bar, etc.

For our parents' house shots in the morning, he mixes shots so it went from me to him, as opposed to a montage of each house separately. We started with "Beautiful Day" by U2 then "Hanging by a Moment" by Lifehouse (very popular when we started dating so it was nice to include it). We used for our closing highlights a great song by the Calling called "Our Lives"

I'd also suggest:

 U2 Elevation,

Coldplay-  Speed of sound

elvis presley - A Little Less Conversation

The Calling-Where Ever You Will Go

or a classic rock song like "more than a feeling" or even that Journey song "Don't Stop Believing"

For more of a dance/r&b sound I'd do something by Usher, Justin, or was it Diddy that did that song "Touch the Sky".

For the group in the park part we had Coldplay speed of Sound and Praise You by Fat Boy Slim, we had also considered Green Day "Holiday" because it's just a fun song.

(sorry this is so long but I hope this helps! )

hey Portia,  we had the same photo/video people- Diesel, right?

we have a lot of dancing too.  but funny things happened during some of it and there was lots of panning around and I found it nice to see all the people that came to the wedding- especially years done the road.    anyway, what songs don't you like?  we changed one of ours too- the one where I leave my house... it was a Dire Straits song and we changed it to U2 A beautiful day.

Can I ask- which songs didn't you like?  we had a few that I didn't even know- but DH did and  I really liked how they fit with the editting.

p.s. how has your experience with them [Diesel]  been?

Hey April! Dh and I weren't a fan of Viva La Vida by Coldplay and then he used 4 minutes by madonna and justin T for the bridal party dance. I can't stand that song. I really liked the video though and I thought they did a good job.

i ithink they are totally cool with changing to songs that you like.  i think they try and use songs that are popular now and some that are more classic.  our bridal party song was "the way I are" by Timbaland.  it really reminds us of the year we got married because that was huge at the time.  how has your post-wedding customer service been?  we are still waiting on our picture and I'm about ready to strangle andrew!
