| When my dress would not zip up I signed up (with 3 of my best friends) for a fitness boot camp! Best thing I ever could have done!! I lost the weight and as an added bonus, my strength and endurance increased amazingly! After the initial boot camp ended, we all signed up again! Now we are all supporting each other as our friend Karla tries to slip sveltly into her wedding dress in August!

| I know a lot of people say bad things about the protein diets out there (atkins, south beach etc...) but low carb is a great way to go for fast weight-loss in a healthy way. The basics are that you start out on 0g of carbs per day for a week to "jump-start" your body. This means nothing but meat for a week and many people worry about the fat content, but don't worry because what you are doing is training your body and it is hard the first couple of weeks, but gets easier fast. I lost 50 lbs in six months on this and most came off in the first three. My neighbour is on the Atkins program and he has lost 28 lbs in a little over a month. I never felt tired or sick on this diet and in fact felt more energized. I don't recommend it for everyone because it does tend to make some people constipated. Every week you add a few carbs per day (8, 16, 24 etc...) until you find your majic number for losing slowly or maintaining. It is different for everyone, but the average person needs only to consume 60g a day for optimum health. I stick to 30 obvious and 10 "hidden" carbs per day, so I owuld eat a low-carb yogurt and a couple of slices of extremely high fiber bread as my obvious ones and count my salad dressings and fillers in convenience meats like sausages and peperoni sticks. What happens is, your body doesn't get the carbs it is used to getting and has to look for different options of energy. Because fat is a nice easy source of energy for your body, it hits that first. Therefore your body starts to use up the fat deposits as though that was your only source of energy. The protein and vitamins that you get from meats and vegetables (added from week 2 onwards) supplement the energy and keep things functioning properly. It is the only time you will ever be encouraged to pig out on bacon and steak while watching your body slim down quite quickly. Water, coffee, tea, and diet soda are pretty much all you are allowed to drink (no milk or sugar, but full-fat cream and sweetener are ok in the coffee and tea) because everything else has carbs. Carbs consist of starches and sugars, so anything that contains seeds (fruit), or anything that grows below-ground are out aswell as all grains. This may not be a way you would like to live long-term, but for a quick drop in weight it would be ok. If your blood type is O neg, then you are in a lot of luck as this is one of the few blood-types who thrive on this kind of diet. Read "Eat Right for your Type" and "Charbohydrate Addicts Diet" and you can see the science behind the theory.

| I cried at my first fitting because I had the same problem. I thought it was impossible to wear my dress. It was at least 2, probably more like 3 sizes too small. I had 2 months to fit into it at that point. I had it let out as much as possible ($200). I think that gave me about 1.5-2 inches. I started using my elliptical once every 2cd day for 20 minutes. I cut out pop and started drinking lots of water. I didn't change my eating habits, and I still ate a fair amount of junk, as I did before. I knew I had to make simple changes, or I'd have given up. So that's what I did. I lost about 12 pounds total in 2 months and I fit into my dress much better. The alterations helped a lot....but here is two comparison pics to show you the difference. The first one is at my fitting (didn't even do up, the ties weren't long enough! The second pic was at my wedding on Saturday, exactly 8 weeks after the first pic.

| What about also taking it to a seamstress to see if they can let out your dress a bit.
