| Hi ladies, So I have just started temp charting this cycle and the handy info sheet that came with my thermometer said that usually prior to ovulation, temps will be in the low 36's. I should be pre-ovulation, I am only on CD9, but my temps all along have ranged between 36.5 and 36.7. Are these unusually high temps? Also, heheh, I have only been able to take my temp AFTER pressing snooze at least a couple of times! I cant help it, I am not even awake the first few times I press snooze, it's just an automatic reaction! Would this affect my temps and make them less accurate? Should I try harder to temp right away when my radio goes on? Thanks for the help!

| I know in Taking Charge of Your Fertility the author speaks about hypo and hyperthyroidism. She mentions in the book in your pre-ovulatory waking temps are below 97.3 F you could have hypothyroidism and if your pre-ovulatory waking temps are high you could have hyperthyroidism (can't remember the high number). Doing searchs on the internet yield many different results for normal waking temperature, but a source that seemed reasonable said between 97.4-98.0 F are normal pre-ovulatory waking temps. However, you just have to keep temping and you will hopefully see a pattern. I've been charting for 2 cycles (currently on #2) and my temps are low and I'm just waiting to see what happens. My first cycle off the BCP was 120 days and I did see a temperature shift 12 days before ovulation. The current cycle is about day 50 and I'm counting still and no temperature shift. When you do see the temperature shift it is pretty neat. Don't fret yet...just keep on temping and hopefully you will see a pattern.

With regard to low temps - my pre-ov temps are normally in the 97.0-97.4 range. Last cycle I had weird stuff happen where they were suddenly like 96.5-96.9 every pre-ov day, so I got tested for thyroid problems and everything came back fine. This cycle, its back to what is 'normal' for me. So I think the ranges are just general guidelines...

I just started charting myself even though I'm near the end of my cycle (for the last 5 days) and my temps range between 98.3 and 98.5. Isn't this really high???? I know it's too early to know what my regular temp pattern is but do some people naturally have higher temps? Also it's my first month off the pill so maybe that has something to do with it. I must say though, this charting thing is fun... I can't wait to see what my cycle looks like on paper!!!

My temps are similar to that post-ov
