Thanks Mrs. M... I'll be testing again tonight... I'm just wondering how long it can be detected.. like is it only one day? Or if I have my surge today, will I detect it tomorrow as well? We've BD'd our hearts out, so I'm not too worried, we're not taking any chances LOL My understanding is this: let's say your OPK stick shows 2 lines - 1 is the control line and the other is your surge line. The surge line is supposed to be as dark as or darker than the control line, indicating the surge and that it's a great time to BD. So, let's say that you took the first test on monday and you saw only the control line. Tuesday you see only the control line - indicating, so far, no surge has taken place. On wednesday, you might still only see 1 control line, or a really faint second line as the LH increases in your urine. (FYI, the Luteinizing Hormone is always present in your urine, just not detectable on an OPK until your surge). On thursday you may see the second line appear or darkening if it is present. However, if your cycle is off a bit, you might not even see a second line yet as you might be ovulating later this cycle. There is supposed to be 1 day that the second line gets as dark as or darker than the control line. On this day, you should BD and expect ovulation within 24-36 hours. As time passes after the surge, I think the line is supposed to be fainter than the control line. So, it still detects that you have had a surge to some degree, but not as strongly because now you are in "post surge" phase. Eventually, there will only be the control line on the test because your LH that's present in your urine is now undectable again because it's at "normal" levels. If you do not detect a surge, than it could mean one of two things: 1. you will ovulate later in your cycle (for whatever reason) or 2. you did not ovulate this month at all - Occasionally, an egg fails to emerge from its follicle after the LH surge has occurred, a condition known as LUFS (luteinized unruptured follicle syndrome). Hope that didn't confuse you at all.

The heart of a mother is a deep abyss at the bottom of which you will always find forgiveness.
Making the decision to have a child-it's momentous. It is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body.
The mother's heart is the child's schoolroom.
To understand a mother's love, bear your own children.
Mother is the name for God on the lips& in the hearts of little children.
A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials, heavy and sudden, fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends who rejoice with us in our sunshine, desert us when troubles thicken around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts.
Mrs. M and loving it!!!

| Mrs.M - Thanks for explaining this as I was thinking of trying out an OPK this cycle and DH thinks it's a good idea. I wasn't 100% sure of it though and how it works and needed to look in to it. You have helped me and I'm sure others understand this a lot better. THANKS!

| Thanks Mrs. M... I bought the digital, so I don't see the lines, but I read up on them.. My problem is that Monday I didn't test (CD10), Tuesday I didn't test (CD11) Wednesday I tested (NEG CD12) I'm wondering if I had my surge on Tuesday, if the digital tst will still show a positive... I doubt I OV'd that early, but was wondering none the less... I'll test tonight too, and tomorrow and the next day if I have to...

Good afternoon ladies - haven't been on today because I had the day off and went shopping with my mom Beans, with regard to opks, the way its worked for me the 3 cycles I've used them is that there is at least 2, sometimes even 3 days in any cycle where I test positive - and they are always the days BEFORE I ovulate; as soon as ovulation happens, I start testing negative. If you eject the test strip after you test, you can even see the lines instead of just the happy face/circle, if you want. In any case, it sounds like you have all your bases covered, so to speak (lol baseball analogy), just in case your surge was earlier this week Mrs. M, I will update page one to show July 31 as your testing date - not AF due date, because of course she's not invited to show up jaeda, if you're sure you're not pregnant then I hope AF shows up for you soon so you can start another cycle Not much new with me...had a huge climb in my temps this morning! I ovulated on the 30th and my temps so far in the first 3 days of the 2ww have been in the 97.7-97.9 range, but today was all the way up to 98.5 (not that that means anything, it was just a big jump). Otherwise, just hanging in there with the waiting...man, I wish I knew how I was so zen back in February...I would love to be able to be that zen now, lol. I'm trying not to be one of those girls who treats everything as a symptom...just going to ride it out for now and try not to read too much into things - at least until I get closer to next weekend How is everyone else doing?

Ok...so... I called my docs and asked if I should come in or not, or wait until I go in for a physical in two weeks and they said to wait...which is fine, 'cos i'm not like cramping or anything...just the weird brownish stuff when wiping....it sucks to be wearing a pad "just in case"..... ....so then I also got to thinking yesterday, how there wasn't really anything like a period, so we should be BDing just incase I do somehow stay on schedule and OV....and then today when i got home from work...there it was...pinkish EWCM......so who the heck knows now if I stayed on schedule or not or what?..... hopefully not, 'cos my physical falls when I should get AF for this month.... anyway....we'll be BDing tonight just incase and I'll keep you ladies all updated on whatever it is that's going on...Even when it's not my TTW I'm still in here seeing how everyone else is doing... it's a real nail biter! Good luck and have fun to all those BDing too! ...Anytime a breeze blows past you, or in your window, just think of it as baby dust being sent your way.....
