My SIL was scheduled to have a C-Section yesterday (she had many issues trying to deliver her first child and ended up in an emergency C-section, so they just automatically scheduled one for this birth)
So they are at the hospital at 6:30 am yesterday like they are told to be, the section was scheduled for 8:00 am...
There was an emergency sectionthat came in (twins @ 34 weeks and 1 was breech)
So anyways it ended up that the steralizing equipment broke down at the hospital and they only had enough to do 3 sections ( and they were saving them for emergencies) So after waiting for over 12 hours they finally sent her home and scheduled her for next Thursday.
She has to be pregnant for another WEEK! She is so ready to have that baby and I feel so bad for her... she was ready to have a melt down when she came home last night - they were so looking forward to meeting their LO and now they have to wait even longer.
I cant believe that the hospital doesnt have any back up equipment... unbeleivable!

| Honestly, I think the hospital made the right call to keep the equipment for an emergency situation. Your right, they should have kept a better stock of supplies. However, what if she ended up being one those women who ended up in an EMERGENCY situation, life or death, now or never situations and she found out that all the equipment had been used up on elective c-sections? Forgive the use of the word "elective", it's not to downplay anything but if she's not in dire need of it at this very moment due to a life or death scenario, it's elective. So she's gonna be pregnant for another week, it's truly not the end of the world and if the Doctor's didn't think she was healthy enough to proceed, then they probably would have made other arrangements. Yes, the hospital should be better maintained when it comes to keeping a proper supply of stock but considering they didn't, I think they made the right call.

I completely understand how your SIL feels as I'm scheduled for my c-section next Thursday (baby is breech). However, if someone needed to be in before me I'd be completely understanding and sympathetic. I'm in no REAL hurry for my LO to arrive ... if someone needed in before me, I would be disappointed but I would never be angry with the hospital.

Holy sh*t Iggy, you're having your baby next week?????? How come it feels like two weeks ago that you announced you were pregnant? Congrats, I can't believe it's come up so fast!

Although if it was me/family of mine I would be sooo bummed out. After waiting and believing that you'd be meeting your lo that day only to have to wait..it would suck.
