Anyone else have anyone rsvp'ing/making meal choices for people who are not invited? So far, we've had an rsvp for a 3 year old (with adult meal choice) and a mother-in-law...both of whom were not invited to the wedding.

Ugh.

I would just make a friendly phone call saying due to hall restrictions, you had to stick to your guest count so "extra" guests will unfourtunately not be able to attend. I have had quite a few people already make requests for their children and I have just said that chldren are not going to be invited as we have to stick to our restricted guest list- even my daughter/nieces/nephew to be will be leaving after dinner. No worries, people should be accomodating to you.

this is why we have the following wording on our RSVP card to keep unwanted pests at bay:

The favour of a reply is requested on or before...
Mr./Mrs./Ms./John Sample
We have reserved X seat(s) in your honour.
- accepts with pleasure - declines with regret
Number of people attending...

If you reserved two seats for them and they still write down three people attending, you have every reason to tell them off then.

My rant is just people not responding at all.  don't you guys think it is common courtesy to let the bride and groom know if you are going to attend?? I realize a destination wedding is not your typical everyday wedding but still...it would be nice to know how many are attending so I can plan my reception/actiivites.  RAR!

I had someone get upset at me that my 11 month old niece, who is still being breast fed, is being allowed at the wedding but their son, a 4.5 year old, isn't being allowed to come.

I had one family friend who's son, who is fairly close to the family, was upset because he hadn't received an invitation yet and he thought he was invited. I ended up sending him one because we both like him and he is trying to figure out where he fits in the family now that his mom passed away.

I can't wait to see what else happens in the next few weeks till the cards are due back.

Are you kidding me?!  That's crazy.  We did not want children at our wedding (ended up with 5) 2 were still breast feeding 1 was from out of town (obviously couldn't leave the kid at home! lol) 1 girl's birthday was the same day as the wedding and her mother brough her as a date (sigh) and DH's nephew had to come at the last minute cause the babysitter cancelled.  But there were another 15 cousins of mine who were under 19 that were not invited, I didn't hear a word from any of their parents about it. How dare that person complain about a breast feeding child.  There's a BIG difference.

Ahhh well. I guess it's a complement that people want to come to the wedding!
