How does this process work. I'm not sure what to do. I've been reading on the gov't site that it could take 10-16 weeks for the registration of the marriage license to be processed do i have to wait before i apply for the certificate or can i start the process now? I'm confused about this process.

i waited the 12 weeks since i was in no rush for it as I didn't need it for any reason as everyone took my record of soleminization for my name change..  I applied on line and had it within about 7 business days.

I applied for ours right after our wedding and we got it within a few weeks....probably 3-4. I think I did it through a registry...?...but I don't really remember.

I was wondering about this too.... I thought that you had to wait 90 days.... we do not have the paper from our day as our best man lost it.... but the person that married us said we do not nee it and gave me the numbers on it... anyone know about that?

Got hitched May 16th 2008 and it was perfect... :

Is the record of solemnisation the certificate the priest gives you?

I have waited to change my name on a lot of things, just because I wasn't sure where to start...

The record of solemnization is the little paper you get the day you are married.  Here in Ontario, we have to wait 3 months before applying for the wedding certificate.

not sure where you are, but I am in Victoria. Our marriage commissioner applied for it for us...we had it when we got back from our honeymoon, so 4 weeks after the wedding.

Married the Best Man on Land or Sea on Sept 29/07 and expecting a Pink Princess on or around Dec 7/08!!!!

Also known as Pinky!!!
