| The idea of like a dark, masquarade ball is really cool, BUT some things to consider: 1. Your anniversary will be on the same day (if you have kids), that your children will want to dress up on and go out.. makes it hard to celebrate 2. You are asking your guests to forfit any yearly halloween plans and dressing up they do to come to your wedding 3. Ideally, you would have to wait for a year when Halloween falls on a weekend 4. Unless you are going to supply the masks (or outfits), for your guests, it is expensive for them to do it themselves. 5. A wedding like that COULD potentially be more expensive because it isnt traditional, which means the colours your venue has and typical white/ivory dresses etc will be found at bridal shops instead of what you might be looking for. Special ordering.... I am all for the unusual and off the beating path, and I seriously think a masquerade themed wedding would rock... Why couldnt you have that themed wedding on any other day though, have an earlier fall wedding or early spring.. it isnt as hot and you could do whatever theme you want! Good luck planning!

Wow Soon2beMrsP, you have alot of great ideas ... you certainly are a thinker!!!! I was actually thinking of having the wedding on the Friday before Halloween as not to interfere with the kids and trick or treating ... plus having it on a Friday will help reduce costs! As far as dressing up, I will certainly have masks that the guests can use, and make the costume portion optional ... most of our friends and family celebrate Halloween by dressing up anyways, so it won't be something out of the ordinary!!
Thank you so much for your suggestions/ comments ... keep 'em coming!!

Just to add ... I want to have a fairly traditional ceremony and plan on wearing a traditional wedding dress that I can transform into a costume for the reception ... I was thinking of a dress that can be shorten to reveal red stocking and a devil's tail and put FH in Angel wings and a halo!!!

Honestly I dont like the idea of a haloween wedding. too much risk of becoming cheesy and campy. if you really want a mascarade wedding then have one, but not on halloween. you will probably be renting your dress and that of your bridal party from a highend costume rental shop. thats just my opinion though.
Invitations (sans info) done, and thats it.......

My FH keeps joking (I hope he was joking!) about a theme/dress-up wedding. Mind you, he wanted to dress up as Batman... Personally, I think a masquerade would be fabulous! When I was in university for Music, the Music and Theatre departments did a Performing Arts Ball at the end of every year, and one year we had a Masquerade as our theme. It went really well
