I'm 'assuming' my husband's name (i.e. - changing pretty much everything except my birth certificate).  Does anyone know if I have to change my Social Insurance Number info too?

I am an accountant and if you mean do you have to change your name info with Service Canada OK but NOT your SIN. That is yours for life regardless of your name.  If the only thing you usually use your SIN for is your tax return, just call Canada Revenue at 1-800-959-8281.

I didn't have to pay to change mine. Just went to a Service Canada location near me, answered a few questions, surrendered my old card, and received my new one in the mail a few weeks later. Why not changed it?

I did..I went on the website and said that if you want to get your pension when you retire...that it has to be changed to whatever legal name you are using...that is what I read and it didn't cost me anything...so I changed everything else so why not that....

So happy to be married to my best friend....
