| A $5,000 ring is not going to get this women some huge, beautiful diamond ring. If she wants to go for quantity over quality then she can have a big rock, but it will look awful. If she wants a good quality one carat diamond then she is looking at a diamond that will cost over $8,000; however, then you need to get the diamond set in gold or platinum. For $5,000 this friend of yours will can get a diamond larger than a carat, but it would probably be a I or J colour diamond (practically yellow). I would not want an I or J colour diamond, but that's just me.

Here's a stock picture of my ring. Mine has a centre princess cut, not the round brilliant. I've tried taking pictures of my ring with my camera, but there is too much reflection to see it. Having engagement pics done this weekend, hopefully our photographer can get a good pic of it!

I have an I colour diamond and it is very white not yellow AT ALL because the cut one of the best out there. You can get a J coloured diamond and still have it face up white as long the diamond is well cut. A well cut diamond will also make a smaller diamond appear larger. To the OP, I think your ring is beautiful and if you are happy with it than that is all that matters.

i know! she doesnt have the ring yet, but like, come on, i think the fact that by FH picked out exactly what i love, picked out the PERFECT ring to represent what we have ( or even the fact he game me one!! lol), means WAY more then me picking it out and saying " buy it for me... NOW" like she always says >.." when am i going to get my ring" in her whiney snot-faced voice. she also pokes fun at how he asked. just because her bf is planning a trip to ROME!. i am sorry we are not mr. and mrs. money bags!.. like WTF? i just feel sorry for him, he admited to us that she only started bugging when shawn and i got engaged, and only picked a date after we did. he said he is scared for when we start to have kids ( we want them young) because that means he will have to have them when we do!.. I have to totally agree with what people are saying here, your friend is being a douche. I hate it when an ering becomes the female equivalent to a dick sizing contest. But then again, I don't even like diamond rings, too colourless, I chose a $24.00 4K garnet ring. Also, some of my other friends chose instead of a diamond: My sister: an engagement couch that she badly wanted and suggested in place of a ring My friend Amy: A small opal ring that she bought herself, as she wanted a ring but was more concerned about the money being use to further their education. My friend Cass: a stoneless engagment ring that matched her wedding ring with forgetmenots on both that was custom designed for her and DH
Wear a white wedding dress? Why, are we bar hopping?
