Hi all:

Looking for opinions as I start thinking about my table seatings.  If you are inviting friends from high school, university (adult life) and those from work ... would you mix the groups up (so the work people don't talk about work all night) or keep them together?

In my case, social circles are intertwined and friends from work have met, and have things in common with friends from high school and university.  As well, the university people know the high school people (and some of the high school people don't really like each other - but can tolerate a person for an evening).

My initial thought is to mix people up a bit ... but maybe that's just me, because I think most people would be comfortable (although may wonder why) with sitting with pretty much anyone.  Besides, FH and I are friends with everyone.

Thanks, LR

I am mixing up FH's family, my family, work people with friends, his work people with my cousins.  Just my opinion though.

We didn't mix up the groups, just so that people are with others they know at first and don't feel too uncomfortable.  After dinner and speeches they can all move around as much as they want anyway.  Just what we did.

I was going to put like type people together.  We have a friend who is a corporate lawyer.  I work with a guy who used to be a corporate lawyer and is now a criminal lawyer.  I thought that my college might not want to sit with his bosses all night.

FH's Boss is named Louis and Louis and his wife have triplets. I have a cousin named Louis and he has triplets. Oh and they are both from the same insanely small village in Italy.

I was hoping that it might make the party a little livelyier

We kept the groups together, it was just easier for us.

I'm keeping my guests together. I don't wany anyone to feel uncomfortable and would therefore prefer they sit with people that they know. Ultimately, I can't control what they talk about alot, so if they choose to talk about work, so be it!  LOL!

We kept our guests together. I wanted to mix everyone up so that they could get to know each other, but as my husband pointed out, a wedding is not the place to do that!
