So breastfeeding is going really, which is great. But, my left breast produces way more milk and seems to be his favourite side. I probably also end up feeding him more often on that side as I'm right handed and then can eat, type etc. while he's nursing. I'm trying to not do that though.

I'm now pumping at night after he's gone to bed. Should I:

-pump the smaller, slower side longer to stimulate it to make more milk and just pump the fuller side a bit to release the 'pressure'?

He's sleeping really long stretches at night, 6-7 hours and by the time he wakes up the left side is WAY engorged. So I kind of need him to nurse on that side.

How do I fix this problem?

Chris

I had the same issue... and you answered your own question!   I did exactly that.  Pump only to relieve pressure and tried to encourage more production in the other side.  I don't know if it really worked but at least the sheets weren't wet!!  We only bf once a day now.... and I'm still lopsided...

Oh don't even get me started on this!!! LOL  I have been lopsided since about month 3-4!!  My lo's now 8 months today!   It all started with a plugged milk duct that got infected & he wouldn't nurse on teh right side.  He still favors the left & the right doesn't produce much at all!!  Very frustrating.  I have tried doing extra pumps on the right side only inbetween my reg. pumps for the last couple of weeks, but obviously it's going to take time.  I'm glad i'm not the only one out there with the lopsided boobs!

By only releasing pressure on the left boob, won't it affect milk production?   I don't want to change taht, it produces tons.  It makes up for hte right one not producing much. Just a thought?
