What are your thoughts on buying a used car seat and stroller set? I really wanted a Quinny travel system, and it's about $500 at Sears. DH found a used one on Kijijji and thinks we should get that one. I'm not sure I want a used one though... that's the kind of thing I don't want to fall apart of break or whatever. He won't shut up about it and it's starting to piss me off, so I was just looking for some outside opinions. Thanks.

For myself personally I do not liking buying used stuff. Especially something as important as the stroller and car seat. Sears always has sales on, so I would keep an eye on their flyers and see if you can get it on sale.

I will accept used baby items, HOWEVER, I refuse to compromise on something as important as a car seat, and my child's safety.  We will buy a brand new car seat and matching stroller as we'd like the car seat to click onto the stroller.

I agree, I have bought a couple of very gently used baby items but would not buy a used stroller or carseat. People will say anything to sell them and I doubt they will disclose if they've been in an accident or incident. If they did noone would buy it.

I personally wouldn't buy a used car seat- just because you don't know how it was kept, if it had been in any accidents etc...

I had bought a travel system (Safety 1st Evolution) from Sears and then saw the same one on Craigslist. So we went to see that one. I had never thought I would buy a used car seat but the women didn't have a car and the car seat base was still sealed in the package. This was also a new model so the whole thing had only been used about a month.

So I returned the one from Sears and saved about 150$.

The used one is in perfect condition and has been great. I think she may have used it twice.

i would buy a used car seat; but they have 5-year expiry dates, so i would make sure that is not coming up too soon, and also that there is NO damage, cracks in the plastic, etc.
