We're thinking of doing a curise to the Bahamas, but I would love some information on it. I totally don't want anything wild or crazy, or have to be around tons of people. What are some people's experiances on the ship? Would you have perferred going to an island resort instead? What was the prices, and what shipping line/or package did you go with? The Wedding day is June 7th, 2008 which I imagine will be a crazy holiday time for everyone else too. Any thoughts or better idesa? Thanks!!

Hey

I've been on a couple cruises...if you don't want to be around tons of ppl i would recommend "adults only" cruises. ask your travel agent..this way there won't be tons of kids running around so its not too wild or crazy. Check Princess, or Holland America..The last cruise i was on there was a couple there on their honeymoon they had the penthouse suite, its a bit bigger, had a balcony (all the balconies are private) and it came with some perks, champagne etc. but i think that was arranged with the travel agent before the cruise. These usually have to be booked pretty early so you get a honeymoon package...hope that helped a little

I haven't done mine yet. Actaully we leave on your wedding day.

We debated a cruise vs. a resort. FH and I aren't people that like to just lay on a beach all day so we went with the cruise. Ours in with Carnival, I think the cost was about $2000 + flights.

Price really depends on many things.

-Look at where you have to meet the ship. FH and I picked one cruise over the other because the flights were $800 more because it left from an island, the one were going on leaves from Flordia.

-Type of room, we just have an inside cabin (no window) because we won't be in there much. So this saved us a good amount of money.

Were not too worried about kids, they always have special activities for them to do in a seperate area of the ship.

I would suggest going and talking to a travel agent about the different kinds. If budget is a concern avoid Alaska!!

I've done a few cruises myself on Princess and Holland America. Carnival is known as the "party line," I've never been on one but I've heard people comment about how people drink a lot on that line.

Holland America I've been to Alaska and the Caribbean and both times it seemed like there was mostly seniors, but also some families. You will find the children by the pools but they do have activities for them as well. Usually there's enough pools on the ship that you can find a quiet one. Also, the pools in the spa areas are generally closed off to children.

The Princess I went to the Caribbean and there tended to be younger people with a lot of children. But again, see above about the children.

Any time I've gone on a cruise, I've had a balcony. I would not do anything but. Nothing beats having your own balcony in the morning or evening to have your meal on with just you and your husband

If you have any other cruise questions, just PM me

DH and I did a honeymoon cruise, and we are now officially hooked.  We just celebrated our one year anniversary on a second cruise.  It is as relaxing or as busy as you want it to be.  You are definitely well taken care of with some of the best service you can imagine, as well as some really good food.

There may be more kids than usual at this time of the year, as it is the summer.  If you want a less "busy" ship, choose one that holds less passengers, however, we have gone on two really large ships (3000+ passengers) and really enjoy some of the extra ammenities offered.

Fascha pointed me to another forum that was a HUGE help... cruisecritic.com .  There is a ton of information on this site.  If you have any other questions, just PM me.
