Thanks for all of the replies! I can see why certain places would have rules about rings with high stones. I guess I'll just have to wait and see what the rules are for each of the places I do placements in, and where I eventually get a job.
The wedding was perfect, and now it's time to go house shopping!

I work in the dental field and it is not that we can't wear our rings but they tend to tear the gloves if they are high set. So it might be in your best interest NOT to wear them to work. Safety first!!

Hey Sheena, I am an OT as well. I work in an outpatient department in hand therapy. I have no restrictions for my jewellery wear. however, I know that on the inpatient floors, there are some restrictions in place for high settings, big jewellery, etc. Basically depends on your department/unit.

I am a student nurse, and we are not allowed to wear anything but a plain wedding band. None of the staff nurses on any of the floors that I have worked on abide by the rule. I am getting 2 wedding bands because of it, one plain gold band and one channel set band. The plain one will be for clinical, then work after that, and traveling also. The channel set will be for everyday. Have you thought about doing something like that?

I too am an OT. No restrictions however sometimes I choose not to wear it when I am conducting functional evaluations because I have to use a lot weights and I am paranoid that I might damage it.

I'm an RN in a post-surgical ward. I haven't heard about jewellery rules since school... a few of us have been wearing our magnificent e-rings & wbands to work. I can see how this can be an issue in terms of safety (things getting caught, bugs sitting in intricate band styles). This is why I opted for a smaller eternity band as my wband so I wouldn't be wearing my e-ring to work after.
