I was just wondering if anyone else had this happen. I got my ring in Dec. FH got it at Ben Moss. Now it has a yellow tinge to it. I'm really not happy with it at all. We went to Ben Moss and they said that all they can do is re-dip it in what ever it is that they dip it in.
I'm going to try to attach a pic....I hope this works!

Well my white gold ring is starting to look yellowish as well. Especially next to the band i just bought. The lady told me to bring it in a month before the wedding to have it replated so it will look nice next to the band for pictures. so thats what i am gonna do. I think it is common for white gold for this to happen.

| This happens to a lot of poeple's rings and it seems to be a combination of how the gold is mixed as well as body chemistry with the white gold. I have a white gold ring that I got over a year ago and I wore it almost every day (now only on special occasions) but I never had any problem with it changing tinges.

| This happened to mine after I took it in for repair. I took the ring back and told them I wasn't happy wiyth the gold colour, i thought they had fixed the ring with yellow gold. It turns out, they just forgot to coat the ring after the repairs (or in your case maybe sizing??). All white gold rings are coated to prevent the yellow. (It's called rodium plating). Take the ring back to the jewlers and tell them you think they forgot to rodium plate your ring. They will do it on the spot and fix it. Should be free.

They told me that they would do it as long as I brought in all the papers for it. I have no problem doing that. The thing that bothers me is that when my FH got my ring he also got me a white gold tennis bracelet that has not changed colour. I guess I'm just a little bummed out with the colour of the ring. I really love white gold. I would love to go to platinum but I also think it would cost an arm and a leg to do.
I'm also upset with the service that we got at the jewelery store. The girl that we had was very rude to me. She didn't even want to look at the ring until I told her to forget it and that I would take my business elsewhere....which I might still do. If anyone wants to know the name of the store PM me.

I'm sorry to hear that your ring is turning yellow so quickly! This is not normal, despite what you hear. As I'm sure you know, It is common practice to rhodium plate all white gold jewelery, and some platinum.
Gold is yellow, so to make it appear white they have to mix it with another metal alloy (Nickel, Palladium, Copper, etc). When the rhodium plating wears through, the color of the actual "white" alloy can be seen. This varies from gray through to distinctly yellowish gray depending on what alloy was used.
In a cheaper setting they will use a yellow gold alloy (Copper, Silver) and then plate the ring with rhodium. When the plating wears through the effect isn't very nice. Your ring really shouldn't be showing a yellow tinge this soon though. The average time for a quality setting to wear through the rhodium plating is actually a few years! It sounds to me like your setting has a very thin plating of rhodium. If I were you, I would request that the store you bought the ring from replate it for you free of charge as it obviously wasn't done properly in the first place.
Good luck!
