Hi Ladies, I am interested in having an eternity ring as my wedding band, but I just wanted to get some advice from others as to which type would be the best choice. Channel? Prong? Pave? I have a 3-stone princess cut e-ring. Can I have rounds in my wedding band?? Thanks!

Andreea (2/17/2008) Hi Ladies, I am interested in having an eternity ring as my wedding band, but I just wanted to get some advice from others as to which type would be the best choice. Channel? Prong? Pave? I have a 3-stone princess cut e-ring. Can I have rounds in my wedding band?? Thanks!
Of course you can have rounds! It looks quite pretty and creates a very eye catching and unique effect when you mix different cuts together.
The best choice for you would depend on a few things. How is your e-ring set? Does it have pave already? Do you have a hands on type of job? Maybe kids now or later? If so then channel setting may be a better option as the stones are more protected against bumps and won't get caught on things. The thing to watch with prong settings is they can scratch the metal on your e-ring and might not sit flush, depending on the setting of course!
You should try on different styles at a local jewelers if you can and see which suits you and your e-ring best. Post a picture of your e-ring if possible please to give us a better idea!

| Thanks for the help! I dont have any pics of it on this computer yet, but I will post some soon. I really like the look of the prong settings however I think channel setting might be more practical. Im a student right now but I am graduating teachers college next year and will be working in the primary elementary grades so I will definately be using my hands a lot. Anyone with prong set eternity rings?? Any problems?

I've not had any problems with my prong-set...however my prongs are square-shaped so the sits of the ring are very flat, I find that gives less snags. I don't work with my hands per se, as I have a desk job, if that makes a difference.

| I have heard it is best to have prong set if you have to have a ring sized smaller, apparently channel set rings are prone to losing thier stones if they have to be sized down either before you get the ring or after.
