We are getting married in early September and we don't want to take the kids out of school for a couple weeks, even if those weeks are mostly review.  My son is starting Junior High (a new school) and this would be bad timing, so we have decided to have our honeymoon in August because my mother will have them for the summer anyways and they won't miss anything.

Just wanted to know if any of you are planning the same thing for similar or different reasons.  If so, tell your story so that us oddballs can know that we aren't just wierd.

Sorry not doing that - but I don't think its a bad idea or anything wrong with it.

If thats what works for you then go for it.

I really appreciate that you are not taking your kids out of school at the beginning of the year. As a soon-to-be-teacher I know how hard it is to catch students up, especially at the start of the school year. I think taking a honeymoon in August would be just fine- if it was what you and your FH really wanted. Could you wait until Christmas? or Spring Break? Those are also times when kids are out of school...IF you wanted to wait until after you were married.

Just another suggestion...

my sister had her honeymoon before her wedding..   they took her daughter with them on a cruise.. they had a fantastic time..  they all loved it..   they had the honeymoon before the wedding because my brother in law couldnt get the time off work after the wedding..  he runs the family farm and he has his own buisness AND he works a construction job..   he is SUPER busy..

I personally would not want to have my HM before the wedding.  DH and I were married on Sept. 1st and my DD is in Sr. Kindergarten... she actually stayed with my mom so she could still go to school.. Is this a possibility for you? if not.. can a relative come and stay at your palce to look after this kid(s)??
