We were in the same boat as you. So we decided to register for our honeymoon. While several people contributed to that I would say that 95% of our guests gave cash. We were so shocked and amazed by the generousity of their gifts. I think that most people look at the couple and realize that if they have been living together for X amount of time and they own a house together cash is just the most practical gift. I think if its a young couple that are moving out of their parents home and into a place of their own that would be completely different. You'd think that this would be the case...but...people are funny sometimes. My mother got married 4 years ago to the man she had been living with for 16 years, some would say why bother, but anyways, you would be surprised at the number of gifts they got! Wine glasses galore (they don't drink), blankets, a deep fryer etc.??? We had to laugh at the situation.

ummm...just putting it out there, but what's the difference between registering for gifts or asking for money...either way your expecting people to get you something. So I think that its neither rude or inappropriate to just say monetary gifts.
And so the fun begins...YIKES! 2009 here we come. Marrying the only man for me March 7th 2009:kiss: If you was a tree & I was a Squirrel, I'd store my nuts in yer hole.

I would ask family members to spread the word. I had a cousin get married, and they prefered Walmart gift cards. Some people still brought gifts since they wanted to, and they were well recieved and thanked for their gift.
I just wouldn't put it in the invitation.
While it can be considered rude to ask for money, I think in today's day and age it's a lot more practical to give money since a lot of couples live together prior to getting married. As mentioned, somehow spread the word and be gracious to anyone who gives a gift.
Here I am agreeing with Hope again..... tsk...
