My fiance and I are in the same position. My sister was as well when she got married in Sept. So I am doing what she did. All she did was she only registered for a few things, and that was it. For those who don't like to give money as a gift there was about 6 items to choose from, but when people see a registry with not much on it, they know that what the couple really needs is money. Another one of my friends has been living with her fiance for 3 years, they have a child and there home is set, so what they did was put little cards in the invitations like you do a gift registry card that had the name of there travel agency and that what they were registered for was there honeymoon and people could donate towards that!

We were in the same boat as you. So we decided to register for our honeymoon. While several people contributed to that I would say that 95% of our guests gave cash. We were so shocked and amazed by the generousity of their gifts. I think that most people look at the couple and realize that if they have been living together for X amount of time and they own a house together cash is just the most practical gift. I think if its a young couple that are moving out of their parents home and into a place of their own that would be completely different. You'd think that this would be the case...but...people are funny sometimes. My mother got married 4 years ago to the man she had been living with for 16 years, some would say why bother, but anyways, you would be surprised at the number of gifts they got! Wine glasses galore (they don't drink), blankets, a deep fryer etc.??? We had to laugh at the situation. LOL, sounds like their friends had no clue!!!

BrandyG (2/27/2008) It really depends on your area. My mom thought it was perfectly acceptable to put presantation preffered on our invites. I'm not going to, but all the weddings she's ever been to have.Um, yeah, if I got an invite to a wedding that said this... I would have no freaking idea what they were talking about! Yeah, I had never heard of that before here in Victoria. Same as stag n' does, jack and jills, socials, etc...

I've seen some people write "no boxed gifts."

IMO, those who want to give cash will do so whether you register or not. I just think that it is rude to ask for $$ on the invitation.

I think its funny that you are assumed to be "yelling" by your font and size. lol... But seriously you can register at Home Depot? Because that's what we thought to do, but when I went on the website I didn't see anything about gift registry. Do you do it in the store?
