Well, Me & FH were talking & our finanacial state isn't well right now. We have about 4 months until the wedding with still a lot to do & a credit card to pay off. He has the week after the wedding off from work & we were originally planning on heading out to PEI for the week. . . well, again, because of our financial state.. it seems like we may not be able to do this.. we checked aroudn for hotels around our area.. and decided we could just either get a hotel in our city.. or in the city near our wedding (We live in Moncton, Wedding is in Boiestown (45 mins past Fredirecton) .. so we may get a hotel in Fredirecton, since it's different.. but at the same time we both love Fredirecton a lot... it is 'close' to home (2 hours) .. but .. I dunno..

Does this seem pathetic? Or does it at least seems like a nice idea? Especially where we've never eally been to Freddy TOGETHER to stay && if we had a nice romantic suite .. & planned a few things to do together..etc .. it would be fun..

I know in my heart I'd have the time of my life... because I always have fun with him and he with me.. we are a SILLY couple.. but I'm jsut trying to convince myself that other people won't look down on us just because we can't afford to go to somehwere's really far away, or in the states, or just a few more hours away..

I suppose I'm just looking for encouragement more than anything? Or a kind word? ..Thought? ..lol, I don't know.. maybe I'm venting? haha! I will stop rambling now.. thanks for reading!

I really dont think it matters where you have your honeymoon! Its all about spending time together as newlyweds!

I think that conserving your money when you need it the most is the best way to start a marriage! if you cant afford it, you cant afford it, and thats that.

Live within your means is the best advice I can offer!

HAVE FUN! I think you can make it as romantic as if you were spending it on a white sandy beach!

I think that sounds like a good plan.  We don't know what we are gonna do for a honeymoon either fh recently lost his job and money is getting tight.  We may just fly to ottawa for a couple of days and spend some alone time together or maybe come home and do a few things together and my mom will keep the kids for those days.

Not exactly laying on a beach like we hoped but as long as we are together alone at last that is all that matters to us.

Invites are out there is no backing out now!!

Your honeymoon should be about you and FH just spending time together, I don't think where that is matters.

Sometimes I wish FH hadn't picked something so big and $$ and put some of that money elsewhere (like debt)

sbru..... its like when you look in a magazine and see those hot supermodels and wish you could be like them - most of us cant! Same for honeymoons...the majority of us CANT afford them...and usually usually rack up the debt just to have one!

I think your idea of a honeymoon is really awesome and I think that it can be JUST as romantic as any!!

We just purchased a house which closes in May our wedding is in June. The plan was to go away for our honeymoon right after the wedding. We are very fortunate in that our parents are paying for our wedding and we have no debt. However, we both still live with our parents so had nothing for a house (furniture wise). We need/needed everything and want to make some changes to the house (flooring, counter tops, etc.) so we decided our money would be better invested in our home. Almost every penny we have saved is going towards the house in one way or another. As a results we have decided we are going to go up north for a few days for sure and we will go on some day trips as well. We are both still taking almost 2 weeks off so we can just relax and do whatever we choose. We will likely go on a "honeymoon" trip next winter. A honeymoon is what you make it not what someone else thinks it should be!
