| If your budget is really tight, then I wouldn't spend the money on the lights. I would buy more tulle with the money and borrow white Christmas lights from family/friends/neighbors. I mean, who doesn't own Christmas lights, and what are you going to do with 30 strands of them after the wedding?

We decorated our own venue the same way but without the tulle. You can see in this picture above some guests.
Because the ceilings were about 25 feet high we had to bring in scaffolding which was a pain. So we finally ended up calling an electrician in my parent's little town and he lent us a super tall ladder. Then poor DH had to put all these little hooks into the ceiling and strung the lights down on fishing line. Took a few hours but was worth it! Changed this giant hall into a much cozier, more intimate venue. Then we also hung white and green chinese lanterns and these giant tissue paper balls that I made (love Martha Stewart!) from the strings of lights.
It was great and only ended up costing us about 200$ for the lights. I think we had about 50 strings of white lights. ****Which I still have in my basement if anyone wants to buy them! Chinese lanters too! I'll have to get orgaized one day and post everything in the 'For Sale' section Chris - I too am planning on making the martha stewart tissue paper balls...what did you think about making them? were they easy or more tricky than you had expected? Any tips? Thanks so much!

I actually made some recently. I have about 40 of them setup and ready to open into the balls for my July 12 wedding. They were pretty simple to make!
Heres my pictures of mine

| Wow! looks great! I think that these are such a good idea - they look so nice! What size of tissue paper did u use? the standard size from the dollarstore - how many sheets - or did u follow the martha stewart directions/guidlines for size?

| I received ideas and instructions from the lady that helped with my flowers and decor ideas--Judi at Special Day Designs and Rentals explained the whole process to me (she rents or helps set up those if the ceiling at the venue is the right kind).

I used tissue paper from Nashville Wraps.
The sheets are 20x30 and they come in a TON of colors. Resonably priced to and shipping was also very cheap.http://www.nashvillewraps.com/ShowSku.ww?Class=016&Type=165
