I know I saw a similar post on here a few weeks ago...but I never thought I would be in the same situation!!

My long time friend just got engaged two weeks ago..and decided they wanted to get married THIS summer...and she's been asking me a lot for advice! I just found out today that she's stollen some of KEY wedding details!

For instance....

- she is getting married and having the reception at the SAME golf course that I"m having my reception (Thankfully she didnt steal my ceremony site!!).
- she has decided she wants ivory and brown theme (my theme is ivory, green and brown).
- she wants her centerpieces that are in martini glasses (my centerpieces are in margherita glasses).
- her cake is being made by the same company
- she is getting her flowers at the same places as me
- she even tried to get the same photographer (but he isnt available on her day).

GEEZE!!! I dont know what to say!

One of the problems is that she is getting married BEFORE ME and lots of our friends are the same so its going to look like I was the one who stole HER ideas!

UGH..

This is how I feel about posts like this, everyones wedding is DIFFERENT! She might have the same ideas as you, but seriously though, your day is YOUR day.............something will still be different.

So I would say dont worry about it and just have fun planning and enjoy your wedding day.

I doubt anyone will really notice the similarities.   If I were you, I would stop telling her anything about your wedding, and keep on with your planning.

I can see how this is upsetting, and some of it I would be a little irked about but some not so much.

Same site - well no biggie, where I'm from most people get married at 3 main places it seems, same for the Photographer

Cake - being made by the same company no biggie unless she picks the same cake. Our town has 2 places that make nice cakes so it would be hard to avoid not using the same baker. - same goes for Flowers, unless she wants the exact same thing as you then who cares

Ok here's what you need to do......feed her false information about your wedding.  Maybe even give her names of some of the companies that you've decided not to use.

You could also just appricate that she seems to think you have good taste

Agreed!  Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery!

I agree with PP, don't share any more details, esp the finer details, to avoid further conflicts.

Don't worry Marie, your wedding will be kick-ass!
