I think that the money thing is a poor excuse for them opening your mail. The fact is that this is something for you and your FH to do. If you want to wait and open them WITH your parents that's another thing, but that's for you and your FH to decide, not for your parents to decide.

Also the fact that they open other pieces of mail is the real issue.

I would say that if they think that it's not a big deal TO open your RSVPs then they should agree that it would be equally not a big deal NOT to open your RSVPs.

I'd be mad and it has nothing to do with their explanation. I would be mad because I know how excited I will be to recieve my RSVP's back and how exciting it would be to open the first one especially!

Its something new and fun - I don't think I would be mad if it was the 128th one but the first one geesh!

I would be super pissed. My parent's didn't open my mail when I was TEN and lived at home. If they had done that to me as an adult I would have moved out within a day!

I hadn't lived at home for 10 years when I got married so there were no worries about anyone else opening the RSVPs, but in some of our reply cards people had written personal messages to me or DH. Probably some that I wouldn't have wanted anyone else to see! Just something to consider.......
