Ladies, so i'm so excited for my shower that my sister and mother are planning, and they are ALL OVER IT!!! I think they're more excited for this than the big day.  It's 6 months away and they already have the menu planned.  So my FH and I are at the FIL's place yesterday and I tell my FMIL the date of the shower (Sept 28), and she starts into how the date is too close to the wedding (Oct 18) and she thinks we should change it ... she's not even hosting the shower!!! She says that her best friend and her are hosting a shower for her friends daughter and it's going to be earlier and this and that. I told her that we (FH and I) aren't hosting the shower, so it won't be too stressful, and my sister (MOH) was going to be in Europe in September, and that was the only Sunday we could get the venue...but it's like talking to a brick wall.  My FH and I just had to leave.

Is my shower too close to the big day??? FMIL always makes me second guess myself.

If thats the only day you could get the venue, then its settled! I am not an expert by any means but it seems a little close (ideally, maybe??) but I don't think you should second guess yourself on this one. This is the optimal date for your shower.

my answer to your question is...   nope!

some brides ending up having their shower a couple days before the wedding especially if their is out of town guests coming in town for the wedding...  oh yeah..  we did that the first time I got married so that my mother could be at a shower..

I dont think it is at all!

My BM had her shower one weekend, the bachelorette the next weekend and the wedding the weekend after!! It was great fun!

it was like a constant celebration

Its not up to FMIL anyways..tell her to chill.

Absolutely not!  Due to timing and distance (we live in AB, wedding was in BC), my shower was the Wednesday evening before our wedding, so only 3 days before the wedding.  It was a surprise for me, since I wasn't expecting anything because of the distance.  I was only able to travel there about 6 months before the wedding then again about a week and two days before, and my cousin wasn't going to let me not have a shower, so the wednesday before it was.
