My sister had her shower a week before her wedding...she lived away from home and it was the only time that she was there.... people still came and had a wonderful time!!

Nope.   That's your FMIL's opinion.  Just take it as that ... an opinion.  Doesn't make her right or wrong.  But it also doesn't make your sister and mom right or wrong.

Allow your FMIL to express her opinion and leave it at that.  If she doesn't like it, tough titty said the kitty.

Tell you FMIL that she should be happy to be invited and that if the timing is not convenient for her she dosen't have to attend.

I think my MOH was thinking some time in late July for a September wedding but most of our families live in town.

I don't think it's too close.  I had mine mid-January and got married the end of Feb.

It's not that close...I wouldn't worry

A lot of people have there shower and stag about 1-2 months before the wedding so I think your ok

I had my shower at the end of August and we got married in October so it was about 2 months prior to the wedding.
