| My Jeweler called the Emergancy rooms to ease my mind on whether the rings could be cut off or not in the case of an emergancy, (love him) they said Titanium no, but Tungstan "they would get it off some how"....WHAT DOES THAT MEAN? Seriously can it be cut off in the case of an emergancy? My FH is kind of clumsy, I need the peice of mind.

It's strange that they would say that Titanium can't be cut off but Tungsten can since Tungsten is a harder metal. That said, I did quite a bit of research before buying a titanium ring and I think that both metals can be cut off (although perhaps not that easily). I think that some jewelers try to scare you away from these metals because they are so much cheaper. here's some info for you: * Tungsten is about 10 times harder than 18K Gold, 5 times harder than tool steel, and 4 times harder than titanium. * Tungsten measures between 8 and 9 on the Mohs hardness scale. (Diamonds are a 10 - the highest.)
Emergency Removal of Tungsten Rings materials, like tungsten carbide or ceramic, can only be removed by cracking them into pieces with standard vice grip–style locking pliers. Standard ring cutters will not work. Place vice grip–style locking pliers over ring and adjust the jaws to clamp lightly. Release and adjust tightener one-third turn and then clamp again. Repeat until a crack is heard, and then continue clamping in different positions until the hard material breaks away. Take care not to slide or rotate the cracked ring on the finger. If the ring contains an inlay of gold, the exposed gold can then be cut or clipped in the usual fashion.

They Can be cut, when it comes down to it... . the problem is.. a lot of hospitals don't have the tools needed to remove them.

Or roommate is a jeweler and I asked him before we went to get our rings and knowing that we weren't buying our rings from his store he still told us not to but them. He told us about the cracking but usually they don't use vice grips they need to use a press and when the ring cracks the finger gets crushed. To us is wasn't worth the risk and we will just replace the ring if it get seriously damaged.

My best friend works in the jewlery business and she told me the same thing about Tugsten and how difficult it is to cut. Also if you ever need to re-size your ring for whatever reason titanium and tugsten you can't. We decided to go for White Gold for peace of mind for me and to make sure he got a nice ring as well since I got such a pretty one! Althought he did really want the tugsten ring I talked him out of it

When my husband-to-be and I bought our tungsten ring we were told that it can easily be cracked off and removed (using a pair of vice grips). Most emergency rooms do have vice grips now because titanium rings must be taken off the same way.
We bought our ring at www.weddingringscanada.ca and were very happy with the rings choices, and service! The guy is so nice (and had Perrier there for us to brink while we looked at the rings and chatted!).
