| I've just found ants in the house - boo! I'm wondering what you ladies do to get rid of them, and if you have any tips. I have two dogs, so I am nervous of using any sort of poison.

I've found that if you just put a strip of that sticky liquid ant killer stuff (it comes in a little squirt bottle) around the bottoms of the doors, the ants don't come in anymore. That way as long as the door is closed, the dogs can't get into it. That's what I did and it worked like a charm. Good luck!

We had an ant problem at my house. We used the little cans, that you set throughout the house, it has the little holes that the ants get in through eat it and die. Now i have 2 cats, the ant doors are way too small for the cats to get at it and we had no problem.

My parents have ants right now. I got a bottle of the Raid liquid made specifically for ants and put a bit on the foundation of the house where I figured they were getting in. It worked like a charm. I put it out in the morning and evening for a few days. Now I just put it out 2 times a week or so (thanks for reminding me btw...). The dog doesn't go through the garden at the side of the house and its only a few drops at a time so she doesn't notice it there and get tempted. I just wouldn't let her see me put it there or it might spark some interest with her.
Also consider putting it in cupboards if you notice them there... the dogs shouldn't be able to get in there.

| Thanks for you replies - I think I'll look for those little cans - unfortunately they are coming through by the "doggy door" which means the dogs would be able to lick the poison. We have a pantry close to that door and I think that's what they're going for...

| I have tried and heard and it works that if you spread a bit of corn meal in the areas where the ants come in...they can't digest it properly and it kills them. Hope this helps

I was just coming here to post the same question. They are all over my kitchen and the bathroom directly above.
I washed the floor with vinegar and they didn't seem to like that. I'm going to try the cornmeal outside.

| I have been noticing teeny tiny ants in the kitchen where my cats eat. They always have hard food and water on the floor... and they don't seem to be around when it is just that.. it is the soft food they like I think.. ugh. They are so tiny I can crush them with my finger tip! I HATE bugs.. but ants I don't really mind... I will have to try the spray on my doors outside.. I know we did this for spiders *shudder* and it worked.. not that we had a problem with them.. I just have a terrible fear of spiders... Another good trick is spraying the outside of window edges with hot soapy water.. this is good for dreaded earwigs... DH does this every year about once a week..
~Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine as children do. It's not just in some of us; it is in everyone. And as we let our own lights shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.~ July 15th, 2006...I married my soul mate!

| when i lives at my moms house ants were getting in my bedroom through the hold around the light fixture-and little suckers bit! my wall was a moving wall of black when i got home one day. went out and got some raid ant traos and spray foam. traps got rid of all the ants within hours-they stick to the celing too-and put the foam around all cracks and openings i could find.
