So we are still trying to narrow down our search for a resort for our wedding in April 2010.  Our TA suggested a few to look at, one of them being the Royal Catalonia Bavaro.  I am finding it difficult to find any information on this resort.

Has anyone been here before, or having/had their wedding there?  I know it is attached to the larger Catalonia Bavaro - are they close to each other?

We are trying to find a decent resort that will put us at the 1500 mark flying out of Ottawa.

We've been to the Catalonia bavaro in Dominican (Punta Cana) 2 times.  Frst time was just for fun, and the second time was for a wedding (50 of us went).  Let me know if you want me to send pictures.    We personally like it. Anyway, the wedding was beautiful and I think they did a great job.

Had the wedding of my dreams on August 22, 2009...

Hi Jenna,

I would love if you could send me pictures, thanks!  My concern with this resort is that the Royal is separate from the main Catalonia.  Did you see this as a problem?  Was the main Catalonia decent as well in terms of the restauarants, bars, disco, etc?

Cheers,

Dianne

The Royal is a smaller section of the Catalonia-it is adults only.  It will have less faciltites than the larger section, but you are free to use all of the services at both.  Just the reguloar Catalonia guests cannot use your resort.  I had about 120 ppl go down for a wedding and it went great.  The only thing now is that they are really starting to charge for extra services like reception, etc.  I always suggest that brides not only look at the actual resorts themselves, but at their wedding packages as well.  Sure, you might find a resort thats a great price and all, but if their wedding package ends up costing you $3000 US, might not be so worth it!!! Cause once you're booked, you're locked in! Hope that helps!

WE DID IT!
Married in Mexico May 4th 2010!
