We are trying to figure out where to go in August that's all-inclusive,
sunny, warm with a beautiful beach. It is the rainy season in Mexico
and Cuba but how rainy? Is Los Cabos strickly expensive? Where is it
cheapest to fly from the wedding local; Vancouver, Seattle or from
Toronto where we have to return to?

FH and I are getting amrried in August ('09) as well, ans we are trying to figure out where to go. I think if you want somewhere that is cheaper, you will have to go to places like Mexico, Cuba, Dominican as it's the hurricane season so packages are usually cheaper as the risks of hurricaes in that area are higher. FH and I are thinking about the southern carribean (Aruba, St. Lucia, Barbados, etc) as there are way lower (minimal) chance of hurricanes there. However, after some research, I realized that it's quite pricy. (about 2000-3000 per person for a good resort). Hope I helped

| I just posted this under another thread, but it may help you! We're going Aug 10-17! We fly out of Seattle and connect in Denver (all the direct flights are expensive) and then same for our return. I'm booking through Funjet - and should be around $4000 for us both all inclusive for a week. Thats the best price for top of the line that I could find! FH and I were looking into the Mayan Riviera, and then we stumbled upon a brand new resort just north of Cancun that looks AMAZING! We're booking it this week! http://www.excellence-resorts.com/all-inclusive-resorts/playa-mujeres-mexico/playa-overview.htm We've decided to book online and fly out of the states (Seattle) since it's saving us $1000!! We've researched pretty much every hotel down there - this one seems to be the best value in luxury. Although, we want to be secluded, pampered and just relax, so if you're looking for more hustle and bustle, stay in Playa del Carmen or Cancun. Our second choice was the El Dorado Royale - we'll just have to go back next year to try that one out too! Let me know if you want more info - I've been researching for months now!

| I am also getting married August 9 and we are debating where to go since it is hurricane season. Aruba and anything on the Pacific coast is safe, but I have been hearing from a lot of people that Aruba is a snooze fest. So now I am looking at Los Cabos & Mayan I was told that the Riu at Mayan is not so great and was reffered to Barcelo Palace which was built in 2007 so it's bran new and you have access to the other 4 barcelos. It's a tough call where to go in August, especially when you want to sit on a beach!!!

I have been researching and August is peak hurricane month in the carribean, so what I would suggest is waiting until closer to the wedding (June-July) and booking something in the southern carribean (Aruba, Barbados, Bermuda, Antigua, Turks & Caicos, St. Lucia etc). They are expensive, however, as it gets closer, the prices drop and I think you may be able to find something closer to your budget and it should be "hurricane safe" (well, at least the chances of one are WAY lower). I think that's what FH and I will do

Plenty of clubs and restaurants. They have some of the beautiful beaches in the world there. Alot of destinations have become too "americanized". Too many McDonalds, Burger King, KFC, etc. Almost seems like you are in Miami. Nothing wrong with that, if that's what you want but when I go away, I want the feel of the country that I am visiting.
