We're moving in 19 days (can you tell I can't frickin' wait?!) and our new house was supposed to have a central vac rough in, which it did, but down to the basement (lazy builder) rather than the garage and the current owner, while finishing the basement, totally covered it. So we now have to get a new vacuum. We have a Kenmore cannister that's about 5 years old and still works great, but I want to have another one for upstairs. We're stuck deciding between a Dyson or a Miele, or even central, but central loses it's suction by the 2nd floor and that's where our carpeting is.
Do you guys have vacuums you love? Please share.

We have the Dyson DC 07 (I think) the very first model. It was a good deal and so far we love it. However I heard that Kenmore vacs are the best from my bro.

We have the Miele and LOVE IT!!!  It's especially amazing if you suffer from allergies.  It is so much lighter than most cannister vac's too!

I have an upholstery attachment that I use. it's like a mini vacuum head that goes on the wand.

When we were shopping for a new vacuum a few years ago I was also deciding between the Dyson and Miele.  In the end, I went with the Miele because I suffer from allergy enduced athsma and found the Miele to be better because I wouldn't have to empty a cup frequently.

Check out this blog and YouTube video for more comparison:
