Yup...thats why we added 300 bucks a month to whatever mortgage we would take on and looked at houses that way...so if we looked at a house we liked...we looked at the price and looked at what  our mortgage was a month..say..1500 bucks....in our mind it was really 1800 bucks....were looking in milton and most property taxes range from 2000-3000 a year so i think 300 was a tad high on our part but i'd rather over estimate than under estimate......one house we are looking at is 2100 for the year........our agent made us VERY aware of that right from the getgo......ya...toronto has one of the lowest property tax rates...thats why my dad laughs when he hears people freaking out in toronto about our property taxes going up and how outrageous they are......its still 10 times lower than anywhere else!!!haahah..

I know I wanted to live in my small town (that I grew up in), but the housing costs and the property taxes were too ridiculous - so here I am in London with a very decent priced home and our property tax is EASILY half (more like third) what we would have paid in my hometown or the smaller city near it!

Stupid property taxes   Sorry you got so screwed considering   But just think - yaye new house

WHAT!!!!  You still have to pay property taxes in a condo?!  That's nuts.  You don't even have property, per se.  I understand the building has to pay property taxes, but I thought these were part of condo fees.

Look into the First Time Homebuyers Land Transfer Fee Rebate. Apparently even people buying resale homes can now qualify for this. It rebates your LTT up to $2000. Got this info from our lawyer today, and am filling out the application as we speak

Has this been approved in Ontario yet? My lawyer didnt think it had been approved yet and we took posession last week.  His assistant will be holding onto the forms until the bill is approved?? Does this make sense to anyone? LOL
