| I love this thread. When we got engaged my FH and I agreed to plan that wedding ourselves and not let people tell us what we should and should not do. The first things is our date Jan 3rd 2009. We wanted a winter wedding and to start the year as a married couple. so when people say "Jan 3rd, really?" I saw "don't come if you have a problem with it" - we have dated for 10 yrs - lived together for 7 - only having MOH and BM (no groomsmen or bridemaids) - only flowers with be mine, FH, MOH, BM and my dad. no flowers in the hall or church (even though people say well you have to have flowers for all the family, screw that, I am the one paying) - my FH is wear a kilt but it is a black tartan - shopped and bought my wedding dress alone and on my lunch hour - told MOH to just buy a nice black dress to wear (her choice) - NO RECIEVING LINE - NO WEDDING PARTY DANCE I am feeling much better after that! ahhhhhh!!!

| I love that I am not the only one breaking traditions! Here are mine: We are taking pictures first Our ceremony is at 10 am (yes I am getting up at 3:30, YIKES) We are having a brunch reception with no alcohol the groom and groomsmen are not wearing bouts. no bouquet toss no garder toss Our fathers are the mc's there are three groomsmen but only two bridesmaids FH has done most of the work. He has booked all the venues, designed the invitations, found and booked the photographer, planned our meal, and much more. Other than dress shopping he has done it all!
Waiting for July 19th, 2008 to marry my best friend! http://jayandsarah.weddingannouncer.com/

This is such a good post! I feel so much better about my wedding now Alright, my turn:
- My e-ring is a family heirloom, but FH decided that I need an e-ring to match my wedding band, so we are using my current e-ring as a promise ring now until my new ring is made. (I drew the design and it's at the jeweler's now).
- My e-ring & w-ring are both going to be a mix of sapphires and diamonds.
- Getting married on a red sand beach.
- Only invited 16 people.
- We've been living together 7 years, and have a son, who will be almost-two when we are married.
- My decorations are only white balloons and tiki torches with seashell accents.
- I told my MOH to pick herself out a nice dress and send me the bill. I haven't seen it, but apparently its navy blue, beige, and white verticle stripes.
- WE're only have a BM & MOH. No BM or GM.
- We're not having a "reception" we are having dinner and drinks immediately following the ceremony at the same location.
- Dinner is going to be BBQ steak, chicken, and shrimp kabobs, with salads, corn, baked potatoes, and a big pot on a beach bonfire where we will be cooking live lobster.
- Lots of beer.
- Cake is a three tier Dairy Queen Cake.
- My Dad & My son will walk me out to my FH. (well, I may end up carrying my son, we'll see. )
- We're having two tables that seat 10 each. No wedding table or anything like that.
- We're having a unity sand ceremony.
- Haven't decided on music, but we're definately going to play the song from the beginning of Shrek 2. lol!
- I'm trying to convince FH he should wear navy blue khakis.... he likes beige though. I want DS to match FH though and I already have some cute navy blue khaki shorts for him....
- We're having our family vacation for a full week before the wedding at the cottage that we will be married at.
- Our honeymoon is going to be whale watching off the coast of Nova Scotia, Hot Air Ballooning over Quebec City, and Roller coaster riding at LaRonde in Montreal.
- Our favours are homemade wine.
- I'm going to make my own bouquet.
- I'm doing my bustle on my dress myself.
- Might be going barefoot.
- No bridal shower, stag, or any of that stuff.

kristend (4/24/2008) Just a heads up. For those ladies that aren't serving a late night snack in Ontario that's illegal. If you are serving alcohol you have to provide your guests with some form of food. I would head to the nearest LCBO they'll be able to clarify my ramblings.Really? I haven't been told that by my venue or my wedding planner. I'll have to email her and ask. This is also the case in Manitoba WP said "You need to put out some sort of snacks for people to absorb the alcohol, Just make sure you have coffee tea and a few sandwiches that should be ok. You don't need to put out a huge spread." this is true, there just has to be SOME type of food
You can call me 'Mommy Dearest'!! Started my Happily ever After June 10 2006 Mommy to Molli & Tessa *Caution* Contents may become heated under suggestive statements
