My DH hasn't seen a dentist since we started dating (so at least 7 years). He also hates doctors. Whenever I get my physical done he laughs at me saying "I don't need to get one before I'm 40". I keep telling him that diabetes or cholesterol or heart problem don't just appear out of nowhere at 40, you can prevent them if you get checked out before. He doesn't go to the dentist because he only wants to go see the dentist he saw when he was little because "he knows how I am". Are you kidding me! Suck it up and take care of yourself. Last year he had ecxema (sp) patches on his stomach that suddenly appeared. He went to the walk-in clinic  (after 2 weeks) and the doctor told him to get blood work done. He hates needles, I do too, but he never went to get it done. Thankfully, the spots went away.

His mom thinks he should get hypnotized to get read of his doctors fears. I don't think it would work.

LOL Welcome to being a wife! LOL I swear my DH is the same ... he HATES calling and booking appointments ... I do that for him ...

It's annoying as anything, but oh well!

I just smile and shake my head and wonder, "How would you function without me?!" LMAO!

Haha.. I do the same thing! I secretly love that he need me so much though..

haha - this behavior is not exclusive to men. my future wife will call me from work and ask me to call her doctor's office to make her an appointment. somehow the call to me is easier than calling the doctor herself. At the moment I think it's kinda cute. 20 years from now probably not so much.

LOL! Too funny!

I've been thinking about this thread today. I'm getting ready to fly to Vancouver tomorrow to speak at a conference. Am I worried about presenting my research in front of up to 200 of my colleagues? No. I'm worried about what my dear partner will do for 4 days on her own. Will the pets get walked and fed? (I decided to just leave them 4 big bowls of water and food because I had visions of them going without water for 48 hours). Will she manage to eat? (I left her food in the fridge and pre-made her lunches for Thursday and Friday. Hopefully she can handle breakfast). Will she vacuum if she invites people to our house? (I'll vacuum before I leave but we have pets). Will I come home to a kitchen full of dirty dishes (I pre-made her food so hopefully not). Will she manage to remember that Thursday is garbage night?

But the upside is that I know being away for 4 days will make her realize how completely spoiled she is so I will most likely be picked up at the airport with flowers, be taken out to dinner and my car will be detailed with the overdue oil change taken care of.

Wow ladies.  May I be the first to say that I am TOTALLY THE "HUSBAND" in my relationship.  FH does almost everything.  That being said I am also studying ALL the time on top of working almost double the hours he does.

And so the fun begins...YIKES!  2009 here we come.

LMAO me too! well not all the work, he works more than me but I am in a very very busy school program and I just cant worry about making food or doing dishes though I am sure the tables will be turned one day. He IS a child in his job though. he has been working this crappy just above minimum wage job for 4 months now, after he was wrongfully fired from his old job, and he just seems to be riding it out and waiting for something. He needs to get his EI for when he was off work and SHOULD be suing the company who fired him (it looks like him and some other employees who were all accused of stealing and wrongfully fired are FINALLY going to start a class action law suit). he keeps talking about going to school but thats just it, TALK! I am so terrified I am hitching myself to a sinking rock and unsure if I want to marry him, told him that and That finally seemed to kick him into high gear. I just feel like shaking him and being like, hun this isnt going to fix itself you need to get on people, make calls everyday if that what it takes to move up!!! arg!

Long term engagment = Long term stress!!!!!

I will admit it, DH is the one to force me to go to the Dr. anytime I need to go, and he has to call for me too... I don't know, I just hate doing it! I always let him know that I appreciate it and do little things for him to thank him.

To the OP, I hope your FH will get himself to the dentist and it all goes well!
