No problem gr8! The bfing poops are pretty easy! I'm the only of my close circle of friends that are using cloth but I do have one friend that uses cloth with an older baby with stinky poops and she still prefers using cloth. It is smellier and she has warned me about this although she still find that the benefits for her, outweigh the smell. So I am prepared! Really, for me, I can't see how different it would be throwing them in the wash vs. throwing them in the garbage. Plus the diapers I chose are one size and will fit DS until 35 pounds which makes the cost of them even more worthwhile to us. As I said before, it is a personal choice and the only reason I'm telling my experiences is because so many people don't even consider cloth for a moment. I don't have anything against disposables! Nor am I trying to convice anyone to use cd's over disposables! People have told me they didn't consider cd because they don't know anyone who uses them OR they have the idea that cloth are like "the old days" when in fact they've come a long way!

I totally agree. If I knew someone who used cloth and I had a chance to see how they dealt with the poopy diapers, I think I would have been more likely to consider cloth. Also, cloth diapers have a huge upfront cost, so I was hesitant to try them without having more experience first. It's one thing to spend a few dollars on a package of huggies to find out they don't work for you or your lo, but the investment of several hundred in cloth for an experiment was more than I felt comfortable with.
I was really hoping someone with first-hand experience could counter my concerns for the sake of those considering cloth.

Gr8 - there aren't a whole lot of gals on CB that use cloth but if you are looking for more information I found this forum to be a wealth of information. It's a bit crunchy, but as I said... a wealth of info!

Summer07 (5/9/2008) For those ladies who use cds I have a question for you. With disposable diapers when the baby pees the liquid is absorbed by the diaper and there are no leaks through the diaper onto the clothing. With cd's what happens with a wet diaper? Does it go through the diaper and soil the clothing as well?
The microfiber inserts absorb a lot of liquid and poop. As I stated before, werarely, have leaks in the CD but we did all the time with the disposables with poop which is far worse as far as I'm concerned.
The belief that disposables don't leak is a myth in our case especially when he was ready to start a new size.
Do you use the flushable liners you can buy?

They just get squished and move the poop up his back and out the diaper. Then I get to wash diapers, clothes and sheets too - what fun! Grrrr.... Since my lo is pretty predictable with the bowel movements we have started using disposables at night and for the afternoon nap only. Not to say I don't have to wash poopy cd's but they are far less frequent and the diaper pail is not the fresh hell it used to be! We love cd's. We're using the BunGenius 2.0 and estimate that in 6 months they have paid for themselves. We bought 36 and we only used half of them. The others are still in thier wrappers waiting for number 2!

WOW! 36 is a lot!!! How much are the bumgenius 2.0's? We only have 15 of the bumgenius 3.0's. 6 month sis a good return.. how much do you think disposables would've cost in this time... did you estimate .40 a diaper?

We fell for the "the average infant uses up to 10 diapers a day" line and we didn't want to do laundry every day - SUCKERS! We really should have thought that one out better, LOL! We could afford it at the time though and now I guess we don't have to worry about diapers for the next child, and I could always sell them! Where we live diapers are stupidly expensive so we've estimated at .60 per diaper... even at only 6 diapers a day we've almost paid for them. Next month and we'll be "making money". But the 18 we are using are defintley paid for and then some!
