Hello Ladies!

I am new here at CB, and have not made many posts... as you can see, but I am getting married next Summer, Aug 08 of 09 to be exact, and i am planning on making my own Invites, place cards, menues,... EVERYTHING. I am not too sure when i should start making everything, I dont want to be pressed for time, and i have already picked my colours ( Chocolate Brown, Dusty Rose type Pink and possibly ivory ) I have an idea of how I want everything to look, but i feel like i am doing everything WAY too early... and suggestions?

Marrying my highschool sweetheart,

 and my best friend...

Your not too early at all, as long as things aren't going to change.

Start by making your guest list, that will tell you have many invites you need and then just go from there.

get your two basic things done: when and where

Set your times with the church and then figure out when you want to start your reception.

Once you have that info, you could (in theory) make them tomorrow! I'm not getting married until oct. but the invites are DONE!! one less thing to stress over, right?

Thats EXACTLY how i feel, I want to get alot of the things out of the way so i can relax before the wedding!

We already know the place, we are having it in my MOH's back yard ( its gorgeous) and the dinner/ reception is just down the road, i know alot of things wont change, and i already have a rough draft of the guest list so i think i am off to a good start!

I had a long engagement as well (almost 2 years), and when I originally set out to do my invites, I cut all the paper, had it all ready to go...then changed my mind. I'm still using that paper elsewhere, so it wasn't a waste of money, but still. So my advice is just to be sure of what you want before you make 100 of them!

I did the same thing! I really don't like the ones I made. I am still using the invites I hate though because I don't have time to make new ones... less than 3 months till the wedding!

I would start as early as possible too but like everyone said, make sure you are set with what you want. We have to move our ceremony up from 4:00 to 3:30. Luckily I haven't printed anything yet, but if I did that would mean re-doing everything for such a minor change.

My wedding is July 2009 and I have already bought paper for the invites. I'm making about 100 of them and there are about 4 layers to the invite plus one insert (where the text goes) so I want to get a head start. At the very least I want the paper and other pieces all cut up and ready for assemble. I'll probably print the insert a month before sending out the invites.

My ceremony and banquet locations are already decided. And I'd also like to get most of the things out of the way so I have less to worry about next year.
