Well as much as I love reading about all the wonderful tropical destinations and long to share a story of my own, we could not afford to take a destination type honeymoon, so we booked a romantic trip a 3 hour drive from our home.

Here is where we are going: http://www.whisperingwavescottages.com/

It seems like a wonderful place, and I love that the cottage we are in is right on the water AND we are welcome to bring our dog with us!

I will share my review like the others, it will just be minus the hot weather and tropical atmosphere!

That sounds like a lot of fun!  You don't have to go far to have a good honeymoon - we didn't really have one, since we went to Cuba to get married, so we just took a couple of days when we were in Ontario and went to Ottawa.  It was a blast, just us hanging out, but a cottage would have been way better!

Married at the Barcelo Marina Palace in Varadero, Cuba on August 14, 2007 - best day ever!

Great find! We're doing that kind of thing too, just 1 hour from home because I can't take the week off and money is tight.

We are staying close to home too! We are renting a cottage for a week, it will be close to the lake, the resort has a pool and our cottage will have an indoor hottub and a sauna. I am happy to not spend our week traveling but rather with each other!

Waiting for July 19th, 2008 to marry my best friend!

That sounds awesome! We did the same thing, we are in Fredericton and rented a cottage on PEI, it was sooo relaxing, and after all that wedding planning all we wanted to do was snooze, be lazy and eat Cows ice cream. We had a campfire every night and totally vegged out. It was great to just get there quickly and relax. Have fun!
