There's only 2 weeks left before we get our house! We've only done 4 boxes and the apartment is a mess. I have no desire to clean since I know everything is going in boxes. With the beautiful weather, we can't wait to relax outside in our backyard!

Tonight we go to the lawyer's to sign some papers. Not sure what we have to sign. We haven't given the downpayment yet and we still don't have any insurance for the house. Does anyone know when those are due?

14 days!!! till we get the house, but 21 until we move!

Yaye!  That is so exciting!!!  DH and I kept a countdown until we got our house... ha ha!

If it's to sign stuff, it might be the transfer stuff?  Seems a little early, but it could be.  We also had to sign warranties that are for the bank... and... I can't remember what else you have to sign when you buy (you'd think I'd know considering I look at that stuff all day).

The lawyer will definitely let you know when he needs the money, and he'll likely want it by money order or certified cheque, and that will include the downpayment, land transfer stuff, most likely his fees and disbursements, et cetera - they'll definitely want that closing day for sure   I highly doubt they'd be wanting to put the money out themselves

As for insurance, make sure you get on that ASAP, your bank will likely need you to have it or they may not release the mortgage money!

It's so exciting isn't it! I wonder what there are having you sign now? We are currently waiting for the call from our lawyer to come in and sign the papers and we only have 1 week till closing. I spoke to them on Tuesday and they said everything was in order but they were waiting on something from the sellers lawyer before we could proceed.

When we bought our house back in January shortly after we received a letter from our lawyer asking us to forward various information as soon as possible. The house insurance information was one of the things they wanted asap. I would suggest if you don't have it lined up already you do so right away or else it could delay your closing.
