I'm seriously considering spending the money on a Dyson, but am not sure which model to go with/how much to spend. For all you ladies out there who have one, which model do you have? I have a cat and a dog & a lot of stairs in my house so I'm looking for the best option? I also have both carpet, wood and porcelain floors...if that makes a difference in model types. Thanks!

I have the DC14 Animal and two cats.(and lotsa stairs) its not the best on stairs because its a little heavy...but the attachments help and the long cord....so the negative isnt really that much of a negative. Its fantastic...u cant even tell I have animals because its amazing and picks up EVERYTHING.

I have the purple animal Dyson and I LOVE it. It is hands down the best vacum out there. We have 2 cats that like to sleep on our dining room chairs. The Dyson gets them clean. In our house the only carpet we have is throw rugs, but it works well for on our hardwood, tile and cork flooring as well.

I have the purple Animal Dyson as well and it is hands-down the best vacuum I've ever owned. I agree with PP....if you try to lug it up the stairs while vacuuming, it is heavy. I clean the downstairs, then I usually do half way up the stairs with the vacuum at the bottom of the stairs (the hose extends better than half-way up my stairs), then I unplug it and finish the stairs with the vacuum set at the top of the stairs and vacuum back down to the other half, then vacuum upstairs. I have ceramic and hardwood downstairs and carpet upstairs with ceramic in the upstairs bathrooms. It does a beautiful job on carpet, floors and upholstery and keeps up with my hairy doodle.

Not sure what model mine is, its a ball vaccum, but the animal addition. its absolutely amazing fantastic vaccum. i cant say enough about it. i find it a bit difficult on the stairs but then I dont have room at the bottom of mine to comfortably place the unit (bad build in a rental). but its the best thing in the world, and you wont regret it. i got an entire barrel of cat hair out of my previously vacuumed (with a different one) carpet... and I only have about 200sq ft. area! yea. it was gross.

Thanks everyone, I'm definitely sold! I think I'll go for the new "ball" one since it's smaller (easier to store)
