My lo has a milk protein allergy and that sounds familiar (except the poop part, but new born poop is really watery anyways). He was a horrible sleeper and that was one of the reasons. I'd try soy, but also just a word of caution that some babies who have a milk protein allergies sometimes have a soy allergy as well.

If your lo has a milk protein allergy stay away from lactose free formulas because it still has milk protein in it -- it's just broken down to a smaller form. Also, with milk protein allergies acid reflux tends to go hand in hand with that allergy. Not all babies throw up and some have no problem gaining weight. Oliver had silent reflux which is where the spit up would come up his throat, but go right back down it and would burn his throat twice. So, he never visibly spat up and he was at the top of the %tile charts for everything. Try reading up on silent reflux and see if it sounds like your lo -- many Dr.s have a hard time diagnosing it and it took a while for Oli.

My Dr. told me first try the soy formula and give it 1-2 weeks to kick in. It takes a while for the milk proteins to go out of their systems. Then if it didn't work he would look at a soy allergy and if that wasn't the case acid reflux.

Good luck! I'm sorry your lo is having a hard time.

Congratulations on catching his milk protein allergy so early. I also am milk protein intolerant but they didn't catch it until I was almost 6. I don't know how old your son is now but if you would like some tricks and tips on how to avoid him feeling left out during his school years, feel free to drop me a note I would be glad to help. It's such an unknown allergy that it's hard for other people to understand why he can't just pop a pill and have milk like everyone else.

I would totally love that!!! Thank you soo much in advance. My son is basically 13 months old and it took till he was 5 months to catch both his dairy allergy and acid reflux (he was an ubber fussy boy that's what made me think there's more to this than colic).
