Hey ladies... DH and I are planning to start TTC this summer (end of July-ish, most likely.)  I've been on the Pill for seven years, and I know that I can get pregnant as soon as I go off it (OK yes, I know technically I could get pregnant even while on it, but you know what I mean.)

But does anyone know how long is recommended to be off the Pill before TTC?  I don't know if I should have a certain amount of time to "cleanse" my system or something before we start...

TIA!

*All I know is I hope that we're better than that*

I asked my FD and he said that 2-3 months is enough, but once you get off the pill you start taking Folic Acid pills.

We are planning on TTC right after the wedding and I can't wait!!!!

I wish you best of luck!

High risk pregnancy is 1-2 months.
My doctor recommends 3 months.
GOOD LUCK!!

You can safely conceive right away.  There is the chance of going into hyper-ovulation as your body adjusts to it's own hormone levels though.  This does not make you high risk though, just more likely to have multiples.  Multiples does not make you high risk either.

I got pregnant on my second month off bcp but unfortunately miscarried last week at 12.5 weeks.  I specifically asked all 5 gyno's at both Sunnybrook and also at Women's College after I was transfered if getting p/g so soon after the pill contributed to the miscarriage and each and every one of them said no.  This is on top of my GP and my own gyno who specializes in high-risk pregnancies.

I believe 2-3 months is okay.

I stopped taking the pill as I started my last menstrual cycle. We started trying soon after and conceived in about 3 days - YIKES..Did not think it would happen so soon. My sister took a long time to conceive when off the pill.

Whether you get pregnant 1 month or 3 months after the pill does not matter. I checked with several doctors and they say that the 3 month is recommended so you can understand your cycle and date your pregnancy better.
