Both of us FH and I are from Eastern European background, I have to tell you that back home we did not have any of these events!!!

We are getting married in Canada but following our countries traditions...and that's only to have bachleor and Bachlortte party...which for we get NO gifts!!!

We only had a wedding and THAT'S IT!!! And Wedding was monetary gifts...

They are trying to have European wedding but then again they are mixing in north American traditions as well...I think that is just a way to get more money!!!!

I hate people like that!!!!!

now that i've been able to sit back and think about this situation.. they are being greedy.. you can have all of these events, but you don't need to have the prices and expectations so high.. they aren't being realistic.. well.. to them they are I guess..

You know what, I think it is a bit much. I come from a background where we too give money as gifts...BUT...I think these people are going over-board...the way I look at things...have a wedding you can afford, don't go all out and spend money hoping you'll make money in return... my 2 cents worth...it's just being selfish with this couple it seems. They are busting their butts obviously to have events so that their guests can subsidize them.
