Friends of ours awho have been married for a couple of years have been ttc and they are having fertility problems.  If you can't conceive a baby, would you adopt? Why or Why not?

Yes I would.  I think that there are so many children who need a good home and if I was unable to conceive I would give one of those children an opportunity to have a wonderful and loving home that FH and I could provide.

I mean, some of us have pets.  Biologically they aren't ours but they are like children to some of us (myself included.)  I wouldn't have a second thought about adopting.

My friends who are having trouble conceiving are in a bit of a predicament.  She wants to keep adoption open as a last resort (obviously we'd love ot have our own biological children with FH) but he is DEAD SET against it!  It's something that I never thought to discuss with FH cause I always assumed that when we were ready we would just be able... Stupid I know! lol FH and I discussed it over the weekend and we would definately give a child in need a home, but I don't know what I would do if I found out later that it was a no go!  Just a suggestion; when you're talking responsibility and finances etc.  it might be a good idea to throw this in there, just to make sure you're on the same page!

Honestly Facha ... it's something I would have never thought about ... to me it's an obvious ... of course I would but I never have never had the discussion with FH ... *duh* over here too!!!!

I hope your friends are able to work out the (bad word to use here) "issue" (like the disagreement over adoption) ... It's definately a BIG step.

FH and I have talked about it and we would definately adpot!  If we are not able to have children, why not give a child who needs loving parents a home?  A child is a child regardless.

Yes we would but as a last resort we would try other options first.

I have thought about this a lot, and FH and I have talked about it extensively.

If we had difficulties conceiving I would not put myself through fertility treatments.  I don't want to set myself up for failure and start hating my body for something that just isn't meant to happen for us.  I think it can take the focus away of what you really want, a baby, and turn it into an unhealthy obsession.

So yes, we would adopt.  And due to the hoop jumping and waiting lists here, we would likely do a private adoption overseas.
